Asst. Prof. Dr. Cihan Tınaztepe will be the guest of the Current Research / Project Topics Graduate Course on Tuesday, 2.11.2021 at 19.00. We welcome our students and anyone who wants to participate in the open lecture on 'Exploring Software Applications in Data Mining'.
Abstract: Data mining, also referred to as knowledge discovery from data (KDD), is the analysis of data for relationships or patterns that have not previously been discovered or known. The patterns (knowledge representation) must be understandable and valid, and useful to the users. Automated data collection tools lead to tremendous amounts of data stored in databases, data warehouses and other information repositories. Bank, telecom, business transactions, manufacturing, scientific data, astronomy, medicine, Web, text and e-commerce are some of the repositories. The process must be automatic or semiautomatic. Machine learning provides the technical basis for data mining. This method is used to extract information from the raw data in databases.
Data mining methods in classification, prediction, clustering, summarization, visualization, deviation and anomaly detection will be explored. Commercial and academic software will be reviewed in. The applications Orange, Weka and KNIME with examples will also be demonstrated.
