Students enrolled to an associate degree programme or any department at a faculty and academy of Beykoz University are entitled to apply to double major and minor programs to be announced following suggestion and approval of committees from related departments of the university.
Acceptance Conditions for Enrollment to Double Major Programme
- Our students will be accepted a second major diploma programme following approval of the Executive Committee of the department to offer that programme.
- Students attending to any double major programme cannot enroll to another second major diploma programme. However, a student might enroll to a minor programme when also doing double major programme.
- Students attending to double major programme can do undergraduate transfer to a double major diploma programme if the internal undergraduate transfer requirements are met on the major diploma programme.
Application Process
- A student can apply to the double major diploma programme at the beginning of the third semester, at the earliest, if that student attends to a bachelor’s degree program in a major; at the beginning of fifth semester, at the latest, in case of four-year diploma programme. Students attending to an associate degree programme can apply to the related departments at the beginning of second semester at the earliest and third semester at the latest.
- The grade point average on the major diploma programme should be minimum 70 out of 100 at the time of application and students among the top 20 % of the related class in the major diploma programme, in terms of success rating, can apply to the double major diploma programme.
Furthermore, the university might determine quota based on the following conditions and the students might apply under the following conditions:
- Quota of students to attend to double major programme shall be determined by the university senate on condition that the success rating on the related class of major diploma programme is not less than 20 % and the general average grade point is minimum 70 out of 100.
- Quota of a double major programme, including healthcare studies, will be determined by university senates on condition that it is not less than 20 % of the programme quota.
- Students who gave general average grade point of minimum 70 out of 100 on a major diploma programme but are not among the top 20 % of the related class of major diploma programme in terms of success rating can apply to double major programme if they have a score that is not less than current year’s base point for the double major programme.
Credits
- Students who have successfully completed all courses taken on the major diploma programme until the semester of application can apply to a double major diploma programme.
- A student should have minimum general average grade point of 70 over 100 to graduate from double major programme. A student’s general average grade point can fall down to 65 over 100 only once during the entire process of double major education. If the general average grade point is less than 65 over 100 points for two times, the student’s registration to the double major diploma programme will be cancelled.
Graduation
- A student attending to a double major bachelor’s degree programme will receive the diploma if the student graduates from the first major diploma programme.
- Major programme courses taken by a student attending to double major second diploma programme and considered to be equivalents shall be indicated on the academic records.
- Period of study to be granted to the students who are entitled to graduate from a major diploma program but failed to complete the second major diploma programme shall be the maximum period stated on Article 44, paragraph (c) of the Law numbered 2547, starting from enrollment to the second major diploma programme.
- If a student does not take courses on a double major programme on two consecutive semesters, the student’s enrollment to the second major programme will be cancelled.
- Double major students shall not pay any fees in addition to the fee paid for the major programme during the normal periods of study. Double major students who fail to complete the major or second major programme within the normal period of study determined for the enrolled major programme shall pay the education fees announced by the Board of Trustees per credit of courses.
Acceptance Conditions for Enrollment to Minor Diploma Programme
- Students enrolled to a bachelor’s degree programme can apply for a minor programme by taking limited number of courses on a specific matter under the scope of another programme on condition that students meet the related requirements.
- Students completing a minor programme will only receive a certificate of achievement (Minor Degree Certificate) in the field of education. This certificate does not replace a diploma.
Application Process
- Our students can apply to a minor programme on the third semester of major bachelor’s degree programme at the earliest and on the sixth semester at the latest.
- Students who have successfully completed all credit courses on the bachelor’s degree programme until the semester of application can apply to a minor programme.
- The grade point average of students on the major diploma programme should be minimum 65 out of 100 at the time of application.
Credits
- Students admitted to minor programme are obliged to take the courses determined with a senate decision for that minor programme and succeed at these courses.
- Students must have minimum 60 average grade points out of 100 in the major programme so that they can continue the minor programme. Registration of students who fail to meet this requirement shall be cancelled from the minor programme. Courses succeeded by the student but not considered as a course of the major programme shall be specified on the transcript and diploma supplement but not included on the general average grade point.
- Students who are entitled to graduate from major programme but have not completed the minor programme will be given maximum two extra semesters under an executive board decision.
Graduation
- Success level of a student on the minor programme shall not have impact on graduation in the major programme.
- A student on a minor programme can voluntarily leave program on any semester of the education process. A student cancelling enrollment to the minor program cannot enroll to the same minor programme again.
- If a student does not take any courses from the minor programme on two consecutive semesters, that student’s registration to that programme will be cancelled.
- The senate will decide how to handle the minor programme courses taken by students dismissed from the minor programme.
