In 2016, the Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) was published in our country and regulated the procedures and principles to protect the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals, especially privacy, in the processing of personal data and to comply with the obligations of real and legal persons who process personal data.
On the one hand, our university's adaptation studies to KVKK have also started, KVKK Basic Education and Inventory Training was organized for academic and administrative staff on 7-8-9 October 2020. The trainings carried out by Lawyer Burcu Çotuksöken and Lawyer Esra Tanrıkulu were conducted face-to-face in three days due to their interactive physical distance conditions. In education, legislation on rights within the scope of protection of fundamental rights and freedoms in the processing of personal data, responsibilities and obligations arising from data processing were explained. Following the general evaluation, international approaches to the protection of personal data, Turkish legislation, data processing requirements, data subjects, data security, sanctions and decisions of the Personal Data Protection Authority/Board were discussed for our university. The training, which also provided detailed information on how to fill the personal data processing inventory, ended with Q&A.
