Hasan Ali Toptaş was born in Denizli in 1958. On the one hand, he continued to serve as a bailiff, while on the other hand, he continued his life as an author. In 1992, he won the first prize in the competition organized by Çankaya Municipality and Damar literary magazine with his story file “Ölü Zaman Gezginleri”. In 1994, he received the Yunus Nadi Novel Award for his unpublished novel “Gölgesizler”. His novel, “Bir Hüzünlü Yaz” was also awarded the Cevdet Kudret Literary Award in 1999. His writing, for many, is a magical trap; the past and the future, full of loneliness, poetry and philosophy. The most important name among the authors who address existence in Turkish literature is a novelist or even a poet who can play with space without fear. His first story book, “Bir Gülüşün Kimliği”, was published in 1987 and he has continued his writing journey ever since, his work translated into many world languages.
What is said about him by literary critics;
-Kafka of the East...
-One of the few writers to be read in the 21st century...
-A perfect language craftsmanship, a great consciousness with its lower and upper layers...
-One of the few milestones of Turkish literature in the last quarter of the century...
-An uncompromising form master; The extreme end of the line reached by twentieth century literature...
Because you might be late in the morning. And remember that there is no cure for overdueness on earth. -Gölgesizler I shouldn't have had to rely on this creature of human beings to dream in vain. Because it was a strange riddle that hadn't been solved in centuries. It was a deeper secret than the deep, or a dark and chaotic universe with no end in sight, full of filth and unparalleled beauty inside. So much so that, despite all his thought-outs, he couldn't even figure himself out for thousands of years... -Ben Bir Gürgen Dalıyım It was like there was something else disguised as silence, between us, just standing there. -Kuşlar Yasına Gider
