How will I attend the lessons?
The courses of distance education programs are uploaded to the education management system in many different ways. The student can log into the system with the user name and password given to them, and can view and watch the courses and contents assigned to them. Classes are opened weekly and remain open throughout the semester.
How is the lesson taught in distance education?
Lessons gather under two main groups as synchronous (simultaneous) and asynchronous (different-time) lectures. Synchronous lectures are live sessions in which the lecturer and students come together simultaneously via webcam and microphone in the created virtual classrooms. Asynchronous lectures, on the other hand, can be collected in a wide range of podcasts (audio/video lectures) applications, presentations, reading texts, source files, case studies, dictionaries, videos, graphics and animations, which are prepared by lecturers and made ready for web-based presentations.
How do you communicate with the instructors and other students outside of the lessons?
There are many applications defined as online social tools in the distance education system. Every user, including lecturers, has a profile page, message box, blog and announcement area. Apart from this, the e-mail addresses given to the students by the institution are also displayed in the system. Online users are instantly displayed on the system and can use chat rooms that provide instant chatting options.
Is there anyone who can help me in solving the problems I encounter during the term?
Apart from those offered by Beykoz University student service units, the Distance Education Research & Application Centre and the Academic Counselling Unit are tasked with solving the academic problems that distance education students may encounter during the term, and the Information Processing Department is tasked with solving the technical problems.
What kind of technical equipment and computer literacy do I need to be able to follow the courses?
Except for the Final Exam, all distance education course and exams are web-based. It is sufficient to have a web browser and internet connection to access these applications. It is sufficient to have the most basic computer usage knowledge in order to use the Education Management system and attend the lessons. No special skills or knowledge are required. In addition, an orientation meeting is held at the beginning of each academic year by the Distance Education Coordinationship regarding how the system will be used and what the students will face in general.
Do I have the opportunity to assess/evaluate my own success?
As soon as the student completes the exam, he/she learns the results of any exam held on the Education Management System. The system reports the mistakes made by the student, the correct answers, and the comments of the lecturer, if any, at the end of the exam.
