In the Erasmus+ Student Traineeship Mobility program, the announcements published in the fall and spring semesters of each academic year specify the application and evaluation criteria, quotas, and grant amounts.
The Erasmus Student Traineeship Mobility Activity is an internship program that allows all university students to apply for a professional training and/or work experience opportunity in a business or organization located in a European Union member country that participates in the EU Education and Youth Programs.
From the perspective of signed agreements, a bilateral agreement between the sending higher education institution and the host enterprise is not required for student placement. Instead, individual student placement agreements involving all parties will be binding.
The internship activity does not need to be a mandatory requirement for the relevant undergraduate program; it only needs to be appropriate to the student’s field of study. Enterprises, training centers, research centers, and other organizations are considered suitable institutions for internship activities. However, European Union institutions and EU agencies, national agencies that implement EU programs, and similar organizations are not eligible for the internship activity.
A student can receive an Erasmus traineeship mobility grant only once. A student who has previously benefited from traineeship mobility in a past academic year may participate in the activity again, provided that they do not receive a grant. Receiving a study mobility grant does not prevent a student from receiving an internship mobility grant once. Students may be awarded a grant only once for each type of activity. However, priority in grant allocation is given to students who have not previously participated in an Erasmus activity. The duration of the internship activity must be between 2 and 12 months.
Erasmus students are responsible for making their own preparations for their stay abroad, such as communicating with the internship provider, obtaining a visa, preparing necessary documents, and arranging accommodation. If they encounter any problems, they can seek support from the Erasmus Office and Erasmus Faculty Coordinators. The Erasmus Office will provide them with a document confirming their status as an Erasmus Internship Student to facilitate the visa application process. Students may receive a monthly salary from their internship institution, but this is at the discretion of the host organization.
To apply for the Erasmus Student Traineeship Mobility activity, students must first find an institution willing to host them and have their internship approved. Final-year students may apply before graduation, but they must complete their internship within 12 months after graduation.
